This newly released resource is completely free to access and delivered entirely online through an innovative micro-learning approach, which enables courses to be completed at any pace and through short, sharp modules whether at home on a computer or on the move via a mobile device. As participation continues to grow across global cricket communities, the newest offering furthers the ambition of the ICC Training and Education programme, ultimately seeking to improve the playing experience in member nations by improving access to world-class education resources. Aspiring coaches and umpires can sign up to study ICC Training and Education courses by registering here. The ICC Umpire Foundation Certificate follows the successful release of other resources as part of the Training and Education programme. The programme launched in October 2021 with the release of the ICC Coaching Foundation Certificate – the first step on the ICC’s coach education pathway which recently celebrated its 6,000th global graduate.
Umpire Signals
The ICC have produced a number of videos as part of the 'What is Cricket' series. Ever wondered what all of the different signals that an umpire makes mean when they are being used during a match? Look no further as we explain all of the most frequently used signals from the umpires right around the world of cricket.
‘Following discussions between the Isle of Man Cricket Association (IOMCA) and the Isle of Man Association of Cricket Officials (IOMACO), the IOMACO has agreed to disband as a separate organisation and see the recruitment and development of umpires become part of the IOMCA.
This move will bring all aspects of developing and organising cricket on the Isle of Man under one entity, the IOMCA. Given the growth in the numbers playing cricket at all levels in the Island, it was agreed by both parties that the combining responsibilities for playing and officiating under the IOMCA would allow for the development of current and future umpires.’
The IOMCA would like to thank all current and previous committee members for their efforts with the IOMACO, a particular mention to David Kenworthy for his efforts on education and scheduling umpires, and look forward to using their knowledge and expertise in the future.
Further details on how to become involved and up-skill as an umpire will follow soon.
Umpiring Courses for 2017
The IOMCA in conjunction with the Islands association of officials are providing two options for parents/heplers/players to gain knowledge in umpiring. There are options for those who just want to help out primarily in junior games but potentially also is the evening league games to attend a bespoke workshop which will be delivered to participants needs. The course will cover basic rules, signals and playing conditions for junior cricket along with anything else required by attendees to gain the confidence to umpire games in a fun but effective manner. We will also be running an official ECBACO level 1 umpiring course for those committed to learn more. Both courses are being 100% funded by the IOMCA to assist getting more people involved in the game. See attached for more details.
THE JUNIOR UMPIRING COURSE WILL BE HELD AT KING WILLIAM'S COLLEGE GYM THIS SUNDAY 26TH MARCH BETWEEN 2:15 AND 5:00
