Block one of the girl's only IOMCA Skills Development Programme is also available to book. We welcome girls of all ages and abilities and the programme is available for any girl's in Year 7-11. The girl's only Skills Development Programme will offer an inclusive, enjoyable programme of cricket and the sessions will look to equip the girls with the skills and knowledge to play competitively whether that be in the soft ball league or junior leagues. Please email Sally Green on: [email protected] to reserve a place and for more information.
The IOMCA strive to deliver cricket activities as part of their community programme (i.e. the skill development programme) that offer children a safe, positive and inclusive place that helps them to focus and improve their techniques, skillsets and love for the game. Coaches will be able to cater for all players, whatever their experience level with personalised training designed to help players reach their full potential. We want to coach players of all abilities how to become the best possible cricketer they can be. Therefore, we offer a structured learning environment for cricketers and have high standards of behaviour to allow players to improve, flourish and practice in a safe environment.
We believe improving skills, enjoying sessions and putting in their best performance on the field are achieved by how players go about their business. We expect players to listen quietly when the coach is explaining things (and the coach will do the same to the player), give 100% effort and stay focused in training and matchplay.

IOMCA Skill Development Programme
The Isle of Man Cricket Association (IOMCA) are launching a brand new, exciting and non-selective skills development programme, aimed at providing increasing number of boys and girls with additional coaching to support them in their development. The IOMCA will run open access development sessions for year groups 4 to 12 as well as girl’s only sessions after Christmas that are available through the off season to the cricket season. These sessions will be used to support and provide additional coaching in specific areas of the game, complimenting and supporting the training the junior players receive at clubs.
The IOMCA have reviewed their current player pathway and felt it would be far more beneficial to support as many junior players as possible, therefore helping to strengthen the overall club game. This new approach, allows us to work with a larger number of players across many months, developing all players along the way. This gives us the benefit of knowing more players and providing them all with more coaching opportunities and seeing them in competitive environments throughout the summer months.
The IOMCA skills development programme will start at Years 4 to 6 and gives the players their first opportunity to experience IOMCA cricket coaching, There is also training for Year 7 to Year 9 and Year 10 to Year 12 as well as girl's only sessions for Year 7 to Year 11. The coaching will be the same as the U11, U13, U15 and U17 coaching experienced by the IOMCA age group squads since 2017. The coaches delivering on the IOMCA skill development are experienced junior coaches and will create environments where players can train at a level required for their personal development. Coaches will be able to cater for all players, whatever their experience level with individualised training designed to help players reach their full potential.

Players will have the opportunity to take part in three training blocks in the off season (term-time only) and one training and match play block in season (term time only). Players can book onto one or all of the training blocks depending on their availability. The girl’s only training will run in two blocks over the off season beginning after Christmas and one over the season. These sessions aim to deliver a fun introduction to cricket, equip the girls with the skills and knowledge to play competitively and provide a pathway to club cricket and beyond.
