CricStart

The IOMCA CricStart initiative consists of introductory cricket programmes for males and females to get them started on their cricketing journey including CricKids, CricSoft, CricGirls and CricStart school engagement days. 

2025 Summer CricStart Programme Launched!

The IOMCA CricStart programme is ready to go for the summer. The programme is split into two age groups - CricKids for ages 3-6 and CricSoft for ages 7-9. The CricStart programme is an introductory programme and aims to provide a fun first experience of cricket for girls and boys. 
 
The CricStart programme is being delivered by five cricket clubs across the Isle of Man:
  • Castletown CC (Castle Rushen High School field) - start 1st May * Note only ages 6-9
  • Crosby CC (Marown Playing Fields), Sunday @ 10-11 – Start 11th May
  • Cronkbourne CC (Tromode Road), Thursdays @ 6-7 – Start 24th April
  • Finch Hill CC, (Cronkbourne CC, Tromode Road) Sunday @ 10-11 – Start 27th April * Note Finch Hill CC will be using Cronkbourne CC for their CricStart sessions this summer 
  • Ramsey CC (Ramsey Grammar School, west field) Sundays @ 10:30-11:30 – Start 18th May
 
There are three booking options with sizes included on the CricStart registration form:
Option 1 for £50 – CricStart backpack, cricket bat, cricket ball, mini wickets, water bottle, club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)
Option 2 for £35 – Cricket bat, cricket ball, club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)
Option 3 for £20 – Club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)
 
To register to take part in the IOMCA CricStart programme please email Sally Green on [email protected]. New participants will need to complete a CricStart registration form and once payment is received CricStart equipment will be delivered to the CricStart centre.​

Winter CricStart 2025

The IOMCA will be running winter CricKids sessions at King William's College in 2025. The popular IOMCA Crickids programme aims to provide a fun first experience of cricket for boys and girls aged 3 - 6 years-old. CricKids is a great first introduction to cricket and focuses on developing children’s athletic, social and very basic cricket skills. The emphasis is on having fun and being active. Mums and Dads can have valuable time with their kids as family members are encouraged to take part too! 

CricKids sessions: 
  • Time: 1-2 0r 2-3
  • Dates: 2nd February, 9th February, 2nd March, 9th March, 16th March, 23rd March & 30th March (excluding February half term)
  • Cost: £25 for 7 sessions
  • Venue: King William's College gym

  • For an additional £50 a CricStart backpack can be purchased including a CricStart back-pack, bat, ball, wickets, CricStart cap, CricStart water bottle and CricStart t shirt.

These will be booked on a first-come, first-served basis and places are limited due to the size of the venue. New attendees will be required to fill in a registration form found on courses and camps. To book and for payment details please email: [email protected]

CricGirls Programme 

The popular IOMCA CricStart programme is ready to go for 2024 and brand new for 2024 is the CricGirls Programme for 8-11-year-old girls. The CricGirls is a targeted girls-only programme and introduces girls aged 8–11-years-old to cricket through skill and games-based activities. CricGirls sessions are delivered by IOMCA coaches and aim to get girls active, to learn new skills and have fun with their friends.   

The CricGirls regional programme is being delivered at two venue
s:
  • South & East - King William's College @ 6-7
  • North & West - Peel & St John's CC, Mullen-e-Cloie @ 5:30-6:30 

The CricGirls programme includes personalised CricGirls equipment including CricGirls bats and balls. There are three booking options and sizes can be included on the CricStart registration form. 

Option 1 for £50: CricStart back-pack, cricket bat, cricket ball, CricStart water bottle, club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)
Option 2 for £30: cricket bat, cricket ball, club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)
Option 3 for £15: club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)

CricStart 2024 Launched

encouraged to take part too!
CricSoft (7-9 year olds) is a high-speed version of cricket where the emphasis is on participation and enjoyment. It is designed to help participants learn the basics of cricket in an inclusive, enjoyable and safe environment, where all children take equal turns at batting, bowling and fielding. Games are played on a smaller field and due to the softer ball no protective equipment is needed.

There are three booking options with sizes included on the CricStart registration form. 

Option 1 for £50: CricStart back-pack, cricket bat, cricket ball, CricStart water bottle, club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)

All CricStart participants can take part in the CricStart Festival on the 28th August - Marown Playing Fields 16:30 start. This will include fun activities and games.  

Registration
1) Parents register their kids to take part in the IOMCA CricStart programme by emailing Sally Green on [email protected] with a completed CricStart registration form. Once registration is complete and payment is confirmed information will be provided via email on the CricStart centre to attend.
2) Boys and girls attend the first session where they will receive their equipment, depending on which option chosen. Parents will complete a club membership registration form.
3) They will then start an eight-week programme at their local participating CricStart centre.
4) Clubs may provide additional sessions and events for their CricKids and CricSoft participants. This is at the discretion of the clubs and they will inform the participants themselves.

IOMCA 2023 CricStart Programme Launched 

The CricStart programme sponsored by Ravenscroft is into its third year with the Isle of Man Cricket Association (IOMCA). The popular IOMCA CricStart programme aims to provide a fun first experience of cricket for boys and girls aged 3 - 9 years-old.

The programme is divided into two age groups: CricKids - ages 3-6 and CricSoft - ages 7-9:
CricKids is a great first introduction to cricket and focuses on developing children’s athletic, social and very basic cricket skills.
The emphasis is on having fun and being active. Mums and dads can have valuable time with their kids as family members are
encouraged to take part too!
CricSoft is a high-speed version of cricket where the emphasis is on participation and enjoyment. It is designed to help participants learn the basics of cricket in an inclusive, enjoyable and safe environment, where all children take equal turns at batting, bowling and fielding. Games are played on a smaller field and due to the softer ball no protective equipment is needed.

We have provided three options for booking acknowledging the kit you might already have from previous years. You will be able to provide sizes when completing the CricStart registration form. 

Option 1 for £55: CricStart back-pack, cricket bat, cricket ball, CricStart t shirt, CricStart cap, CricStart water bottle, club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)
Option 2 for £30: cricket bat, cricket ball, club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)
Option 3 for £15: club membership and a minimum of 8 training sessions (depending on the start date)

IOMCA CricStart Programme 2022

​Isle of Man cricket is teaming up with the Ravenscroft Group once again who will continue to sponsor the CricStart programme in 2022. A very successful first year saw 130 children aged between 3 and 9 taking part in the programme at cricket clubs across the Isle of Man. The CricStart programme is an initiative which aims to provide a fun first experience of cricket for boys and girls aged 3 - 9 years-old.

After signing up for just a £50 registration fee every child will receive:
• Eight 60 minute sessions from trained CricStart Facilitators (depending on registration date)
• A club membership
• CricStart backpack including bat, ball, water bottle, cap and t shirt 

The CricStart programme is being delivered by five clubs across the Isle of Man:
• Crosby CC 
Marown Playing Fields - Sunday morning   
• Cronkbourne CC
Tromode Road - Sunday morning
• Castletown CC -
King William's College - Thursday evening & Sunday morning

Cricket and Pizza at the CricStart Celebration Event 

​Friday 3rd September saw the CricStart celebration event take place at Cronkbourne Cricket Club. The participants took part in a series of activities led by facilitators from a number of clubs and then children, family members and facilitators tucked into pizza. Everyone had lots of fun and thanks must go to the facilitators, Cronkbourne Cricket Club for hosting, all the clubs and facilitators who ran the CricStart sessions over the summer and Ravenscroft Group for their tremendous support of the programme. 

Clubs will be running autumn and winter indoor CricStart sessions to keep the momentum going until next season. .

CricStart Celebration Event

​To recognise the first phase of the CricStart programme a celebration event for the Isle of Man CricStart ‘Ravers’ has been organised for 6pm on Friday 3rd September at Cronkbourne Cricket Club. All those youngsters who have been taking part in the programme at cricket clubs across the Isle of Man have been invited alongside family members and club facilitators,

The celebration event will allow those children who have been attending the CricStart programme the opportunity to play and practice some of the skills they have been working on as well as play a number of games. There will be food provided for the participants, family members and facilitators.

Isle of Man Clubs Looking for CricStart Facilitators
Could you help grow cricket on the Isle of Man developing the next generation of Manx cricketers?

​Castletown, Cronkbourne, Crosby, Finch Hill, Peel and St Johns and Ramsey Cricket Club are looking for CricStart Facilitators to help them run the new CricStart programme and provide introductory cricket programmes for 3-9 year olds. Facilitators will take part in a 3 hour workshop and need to be aged 14 and above. Please email [email protected] if you would like to be a CricStart Facilitator and be put in contact with your local cricket club.
