​              Level 1           Course

Isle of Man to Deliver Their First ICC Level 1 Course 

The Isle of Man Cricket Association will be running their first ICC Level 1 coaching course on April 30th 10-5 at King William's College. This will be followed up with a practical assessment outside at King William's college on May 21st. This is really exciting news for Isle of Man cricket as coach education plays a pivotal role in the overall development of cricket within the Isle of Man as coaches support the development of players through the island pathway..​

Course Purpose
The purpose of the ICC Level 1 is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver fun and engaging coaching sessions for beginners through to club participants.

Who is the course for? 
The ICC Level 1 Coach Course course is open to anyone who wishes to become a cricket coach. The minimum age to start the course is 16, 

Course delivery
This course is delivered in three phases:
  • Distance Learning. Participants will be provided access to 5 online modules to complete in their own time.
  • In Person Learning. Participants will attend an in person course, delivered by an ICC Tutor
  • Face to face practical assessment

Content 
Presented through a blended learning approach incorporating online and face-to-face training, the course certifies individuals to deliver coaching sessions to beginner participants on their own, and contains more in-depth technical information on areas such as batting, bowling and fielding.

Cost
The course will cost an initial £50 with full reimbursement on completion of the course 

Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the ICC Level 1 course on the Isle of Man, participants must have:
  • Completed the ICC Foundation Certificate (free and online) www.icc-cricket.com/about/development/training-and-education
  • In-date DBS check
  • In-date safeguarding and first aid certificate msr.gov.im/media/2381/coach-education-programme-2023-24.pdf

ICC Level 1 Coach Course 

Course Purpose
The purpose of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to deliver fun and engaging coaching sessions for beginner into community club participants.

Course Outcome
On completion of the course, participants will have the knowledge and skills to deliver fun and engaging coaching sessions for beginner participants.

Who is the course for?
This course is open to anyone aged over 16 who wishes to become a cricket coach. To be eligible to participate in the course, participants must have successfully completed the ICC Foundation Course.

Candidate competencies
In order to successfully complete this course, participants will need to demonstrate the following competencies:
  • Demonstration of key skills required to be successful in cricket
  • The ability to create a safe and inclusive environment
  • The ability to deliver fun and engaging sessions
  • The ability to adapt coaching sessions to work with different participants

Course delivery and Cost
This course is delivered in two phases:

  • Cost: £50 with full reimbursement on completion of course

  • Cut Shot  
  • Pull Shot  

Unit 3: Bowling  
  • Pace bowling  
  • Off Spin bowling  
  • Leg Spin Bowling 

Unit 4: Fielding  
  • Catching  
  • Ground fielding  
  • Throwing  

Unit 5: Wicketkeeping  
  • Position  
  • Moving  
  • Catching
