After a review of the Isle of Man junior performance pathway in 2019 the IOMCA currently offer boys' age groups at U13, U15 and U17.. The U13 squad comprises of players from U10 to U13 and is split into batters and bowlers skill set groups. The U13 and U15 squad will play competitive fixtures on the island in the form of Super 2s and against touring teams as well as entering a festival. The U17 squad will be preparing for the U19 World Cup qualifiers.
The revised pathway ensures players are continually looking to approach Isle of Man squad cricket with the values that have been identified from National Team to the youngest player.
Player Values: Get there: attend all sessions and be punctual. Wear the kit: players have all the necessary kit/equipment for the sessions. Try your best: 100% effort at all times; you have only failed if you haven't tried. Team Values: Honesty - coaches, team mates, parents, self. Respect - game, officials, opposition, all. Team first - team game, celebrate others success, not all about me.
Trials and selection are based around the three A's: Attitude - focus around player and team values. Athleticism - significant emphasis on player's athletic traits as these influence current skill level and ability to improve. Ability - not as paramount as those who do not possess the above traits will be caught up and overtaken in time.
The 2020/2021 Player Pathway document below provides an overview and explains the ethos and objectives of the IOMCA boys' pathway.
