Junior League Updates for 2025

There have been a number of amendments for the 2025 junior cricket season. All U11, U13 and U15 fixtures will be 16-overs to allow games to finish before it becomes dark. The U13 league will be played on a Monday evening and U15 league on a Tuesday evening to allow the increasing number of females to play in the women's soft ball league on a Monday evening and the junior U15 league on a Tuesday evening. This will also link in with the secondary school cricket fixtures. The junior league fixtures can be found on Play Cricket: iomcacomps.play-cricket.com/Competitions

The regionalised soft ball festivals have returned to a Friday evening and will be played every week rotating between the cricket grounds across the Isle of Man.

2023 Junior League Fixtures Published

Fixtures have been finalised for the 2023 junior leagues and the full league programme can be found on Play Cricket: iomcacomps.play-cricket.com/Competitions

The junior leagues will see a total of 19 teams play in the U15 league on a Monday evening, U13 league on a Tuesday evening and U11 league on a Friday evening. The U11 season will start as incredi ball pairs with full equipment and the second half of the season will be standard cricket ball rules.

Changes from the 2022 season:
  • Retirement has now been introduced in U11, U13 and U15 junior league cricket to allow more people to get the opportunity to participate. This will be U11 - 20 runs, U13 - 25 runs and U15 - 30 runs.
  • The regionalised Kwik Cricket festivals will now be played fortnightly on a Sunday afternoon moving from a Friday evening.
  • This year will see a new exciting T10 competition played in August as a culmination to the junior league season.

Junior League Rule Change
  • Running out backing up (Mankad) was agreed by the junior league committee to not be enforced and players urged not to either back up too far or Mankad. The Isle of Man will enforce the spirit of cricket method throughout all junior league cricket.

2017 Junior Cricket Proposal

To enhance the opportunities and the quality of junior cricket a proposal has been submitted to clubs to modify certain areas of the junior cricket structure.

Recently adopted in Australia and currently in discussion after some successful trials in England these proposals look at pitch, boundary and team sizes to give a more inclusive and positive experience in matches.

The suggestions are listed below.
