Umpiring Development
‘Following discussions between the Isle of Man Cricket Association (IOMCA) and the Isle of Man Association of Cricket Officials (IOMACO), the IOMACO has agreed to disband as a separate organisation and see the recruitment and development of umpires become part of the IOMCA.
This move will bring all aspects of developing and organising cricket on the Isle of Man under one entity, the IOMCA.
Given the growth in the numbers playing cricket at all levels in the Island, it was agreed by both parties that the combining responsibilities for playing and officiating under the IOMCA would allow for the development of current and future umpires.’
The IOMCA would like to thank all current and previous committee members for their efforts with the IOMACO, a particular mention to David Kenworthy for his efforts on education and scheduling umpires, and look forward to using their knowledge and expertise in the future.
Further details on how to become involved and up-skill as an umpire will follow soon.

Electronic Scoring 2017 Update
Scoring goes digital with Play-Cricket Scorer. The newly released Play-Cricket Scorer app will bring your recreational games to life, from back-garden matches to league fixtures.
Over the winter there have been significant discussions between the ECB and CricHQ (who also have the licence to TCS) in relation to the scoring App.
These have led to play cricket no longer being compatible with the scoring App options of Crichq and TCS. Any games scored on these Apps will no longer be able to be automatically uploaded to our play cricket sites.
The ECB have however launched their own scoring App to ensure electronic scoring is still possible which can be found and explained here:
http://www.play-cricket.com/updates
The apps can be downloaded here:
(iOS)
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/play-cricket-scorer/id1213190783?mt=8
(Android)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.playcricket.scorer&hl=en_GB
For us it was the best decision to stay with play cricket as the website options etc are all free to us to use and if we moved to the crichq platform there would be a significant charge for these services.
The scoring App is simple to use as were both the others but if there is a need to go through this we can arrange a session where we get together and discuss/play around with it and get to know it.
Please update iPads accordingly with this and delete crichq and TCS to avoid confusion.
If you can forward this to any parents/scorers who do a great job of assisting with this in your club that would be appreciated.

Electronic Scoring
From the 2016 season all clubs will be required to input all results junior and senior onto play cricket. The IOMCA have provided all clubs with an IPad to assist with this. It is also recommended clubs use a scoring App to assist with this. Crichq and total cricket scorer are both compatible with play cricket and will enable you to download the fixture, score the match and upload the result.
The following Youtube club shows the simplicity of using this. Any questions please contact the IOM development officer (details below) to assist.
